The Oracle's Curse

“I’m cursed with knowledge, dear boy.”
Liuk snorted. “Knowledge is no curse.”

“Not when you’ve seen the end of the world, young sir. I’ve seen the end of you. There is nothing for me but a bottomless pit, an empty chasm. My future lies in darkness.”

“Then would you like me to kill you one day? Your future will be safely in my hands.” Liuk stared at the Oracle, hard as stone.

“I would like that,” the Oracle smiled. “But I would not expect it from you.”

“I keep all my promises.”

“It will be impossible. Don't you see me? Cursed with a mind. Cursed with immortality. Strike me now, and I shall return. Strike me again, and I shall return as the ravens feast on the dead.”

Another Book Excerpt!

It wasn’t until he had celebrated his eighth coming that the boy wielded a sword. His body was too fragile, his stance too weak, his legs too small. The mere blade of the weapon had been too heavy for his beady arm to lift, even with the strength of two. It was said that the Knights of the Lumentian had found themselves fighters long before they could recite their letters, the youngest being no older than they could count. Koah Mallor was among the few who had blossomed late...

Excerpt from my book...

They worshipped the Water God. Her song was a sweet melody, encapsulating the sailors yet to come…
It was said that the Great Seed had graced the water long before the sirens and merfolk thrived in its depths. The sea creatures of the night had seen it themselves, sworn to it as they watched the sapphire stone glass carved from the tears of the blue sky itself, fall and plummet until it collided against the sandy floors, plumes of smoke rising from it like a fire in the seas. Its darkness had leeched into the waters, swirling amongst the midst of the creatures until they were consumed with its magic themselves.
Magic, they had thought—the fish and the sharks and the swimmers of the night all enthralled with this powerful sorcery. It wasn’t for long that the merfolk were born—born from the seed of the stone, their sable hair and blue eyes, almost as dark as the black ocean abyss, erected from its power.
And so they were alive.

Welcome!

Hello new viewers and welcome to my writing blog! My name is Kaylin and I'm a junior in high school with a passion for creative writing. With this blog, I plan to share my stories and writings and other ideas. Please feel free to leave feedback and engage in community discussions about favorite reads and books of the year.

With that in mind, I'll share a little bit about myself as well! I love to both read and write fantasy (please feel free to recommend any high fantasy books). I recently finished the first book in A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin after watching the Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon shows! I loved the book and plan to pick up the next one soon. One of my favorite series is The Folk of the Air, although I have yet to finish the newest book, haha. When I'm not writing, reading, or doing schoolwork, I enjoy hanging out with my cats, playing video games, and listening to music. I had a huge BTS and K-pop phase in middle school, but recently I've found myself listening to movie soundtracks!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my little introduction! Please enjoy!
